TVE makes appointment for more Centro Medico

TVE makes appointment for more Centro MedicoSpanish public broadcaster, TVE has ordered another 160 episodes of its daily medical scripted reality series, Centro Medico, for its flagship channel La1 from Zebra Producciones. Zebra is part of iZen Producciones, Spain’s biggest independent producer.

The new order takes the total number of episodes now produced and commissioned to more than 1000 and Zebra are marking this landmark by moving production to a new, bigger hospital location to allow the series to tell stories that are more medically complicated and that will also allow the introduction of new characters.

This latest commission will also see the launch of a new health and lifestyle, Centro Medico, app that will allow viewers to find out more about some of the ailments and illnesses featured in the long-running show. The series sees actors playing the medical team while ordinary people play the patients and  is based upon Dutch producer Tuvalu’s format The Clinic.

Jose Velasco, President iZen Producciones, said ‘We are delighted that TVE has shown such faith in Centro Medico. Their ongoing commitment will enable us to produce a new, even more realistic series, that will continue to spread positive messages about personal health to its millions of viewers in an engaging and entertaining way.’
